    Abstract:
The present study aims to elucidate the role of philosophical counseling in the development of adolescents’ personal philosophy and to compare it with the theoretical foundations of Albert Ellis’s Rational Emotive Behavior Therapy (REBT). While philosophical counseling facilitates awareness, self-knowledge, and the formation of a coherent worldview through Socratic dialogue and critical reflection, Ellis’s theory -by integrating psychology and philosophy- seeks to rectify irrational beliefs and improve emotional and behavioral responses. The research methodology involves a conceptual analysis of the common and distinct components of these two approaches and develops a model for the growth of adolescents’ personal philosophy. Within this model, components such as Socratic dialogue, critical reflection, meaning-making, philosophical skills, self-knowledge, and the establishment of a safe and non-judgmental environment were identified. The findings indicate that these components can facilitate the process of personal philosophy development in adolescents through exercises such as abstract conceptual analysis and philosophical journaling. Furthermore, a comparison with the principles of Rational Emotive Behavior Therapy (REBT) suggests that the implementation of this model necessitates that counselors be acquainted with both approaches. The study concludes that integrating philosophical counseling with the cognitive-emotional components of Ellis’s framework offers a potent pedagogical and counseling tool. Such an integration fosters critical thinking, identity development, and the capacity for analytical reflection on thoughts and emotions, thereby empowering adolescents to navigate the complexities of contemporary life.
