The perfection of the soul is “divine closeness,” and divine closeness from the perspective of Allama Misbah (may Allah have mercy on him) means “the intensification of the soul’s knowledge of God”; and the way to achieve the aforementioned goal is to have “pure intention.” The topic that the present study is dedicated to examining is the role of divine intention in strengthening the knowledge of God. The purpose of examining the aforementioned topic, which has been conducted in a descriptive-analytical manner, is to see how pure intention strengthens the knowledge of God in the soul? Does intention directly play such a role or does it help another factor? What motives are compatible with divine motives, and what is the role of unconscious motives in this regard? In this study, we are led to the conclusion that intention leads to strengthening self-awareness by directing the soul’s attention, and motives that are in line with divine motives are compatible with it, and there is no difference between conscious and unconscious motives in strengthening self-awareness.
