    The Footprints in the Islamic Philosophical Tradition of a Modern Solution to the Liar Paradox

    Abstract: 
    Stephen Read has tried, in the recent decade, to suggest a new solution to the Liar Paradox by proposing a new theory of truth. He criticized Tarski’s truth theory and suggested a new theory instead. By applying his theory, Read concluded that the liar sentence is false without any contradiction. The author in this article tries to show the similarities of Read’s approach to that of Athir al-din Abhari.

    Abstract: 
    در دهه اخیر استفان رید تلاش کرده است تا به واسطه ارائه یک نظریه صدق جدید، راه‏حلّ تازه‏اى براى پارادوکس دروغگو به دست دهد. او طرح صدق تارسکى را نقد، و به جاى آن طرح تازه‏اى پیشنهاد نموده است. رید با اعمال این طرح بر روى جمله دروغگو، نتیجه مى‏گیرد که این جمله بدون هیچ تناقضى کاذب است. در این مقاله، ضمن شرح نظریه رید، تلاش مى‏کنیم تا شباهت‏هاى رویکرد او را با رویکرد اثیرالدین ابهرى نشان دهیم.
