abstract = {According to the theory of essential dualism, human being is composed of two different essences, i.e. soul or non-physical mind, and physical body, which are essentially divergent. The best-known contemporary expositor and proponent of this theory is Rene Descartes. He has given this theory a new life and formulated numerous arguments for it including language usage, behavioral creativity, methodical doubt, distinctive sensory perception, and the indivisibility of soul.
In this article, we have first clearly explained those arguments, and criticized them. In addition, some objections are mentioned, with which essential dualism, in general, is faced.

abstract_fa ={بنابر نظریه دوگانه انگارى جوهرى، انسان تشکیل یافته از دو جوهر متفاوتِ نفس یا ذهن غیرفیزیکى و بدن فیزیکى است و آنها تباین ذاتى دارند. مشهورترین شارح و مدافع این نظریه در دوره جدید، رنه دکارت است. وى حیاتى تازه به آن بخشیده و استدلال هاى پرشمارى مانند کاربرد زبان، خلاقیت رفتارى، شک روشمند، ادراک حسى متمایز و تقسیم ناپذیرى نفس را به سود آن صورت بندى کرده است. در این مقاله نخست این پنج استدلال را به وضوح تبیین، و سپس نقدهایى را بر آنها مطرح ساخته ایم. به علاوه، به برخى اشکالاتى که دوگانه انگارى جوهرى، به صورت عام، با آنها روبه روست نیز اشاره کرده ایم.
