abstract = {“Metempsychosis” has been a preoccupation for those who have worked in the area of philosophical psychology since a long time. It has resonance in other philosophical investigations, as well as in theological discussions. Muslim philosophers have dealt with this issue from different perspectives, and most often have come to the conclusion that it is philosophically impossible. Shaykh Ishrāq, however, says something different in this regard. 
This article is an attempt at explaining Shaykh Ishrāq’s idea with reference to his original works. At the outset, the author presents a history of the idea of metempsychosis, different approaches to this theory, its various terminologies, its foundations, and the reasons behind its rejection by some scholars. At the end, he tries to elaborate on Shaykh Ishrāq’s viewpoint on the issue, as well as his evaluation of the philosophical and narrative arguments regarding the question of metempsychosis.

abstract_fa ={«تناسخ» آموزه اى است که از دیرباز فکر اندیشمندان را به خود معطوف داشته؛ بحثى که در علم النفس فلسفى از جایگاه ویژه اى برخوردار است، به گونه اى که هم در فلسفه نفس بازتاب هاى درخور توجهى دارد و هم در دیگر مباحث فلسفى. علاوه بر این، نمى توان از بازتاب هاى کلامى آن نیز غافل شد. از این رو، اندیشمندان مسلمان به فراخور توان فکرى خویش، به بررسى آن پرداخته اند و غالبآ به امتناع عقلى آن گرایش نشان داده اند. در این میان، شیخ اشراق به گونه اى دیگر سخن گفته است. در این مقاله، تلاش شده است تا دیدگاه ایشان با توجه به آثار وى تبیین شود؛ در این زمینه، ابتدا تاریخچه آموزه تناسخ، گرایش هاى گوناگون در این باره، اصطلاحات تناسخ و انواع آن و مبانى تناسخ و مبانى انکار آن، بررسى شده و در ادامه، تبیین دقیقى از دیدگاه ایشان ارائه گردیده است. در پایان، دلایل عقلى و نقلى طرفین ـ البته بر اساس آثار شیخ اشراق ـ ارائه شده است.
